Spotify is, reportedly, in the process of developing new tools that would enable users to remix songs directly within the streaming platform.
Screenshots captured by app researcher Chris Messina, and initially reported by The Wall Street Journal, indicate that these mixing capabilities could be part of a new premium subscription tier called “Music Pro.”
The proposed tools aim to capitalize on the rising trend of user-generated remixes on social media platforms like TikTok. While still in the early stages, discussions suggest plans to allow users to modify songs by adjusting tempo, blending tracks, and applying various transition styles. Users would then have the option to save their remixed versions for future listening within Spotify.
The mixing tools, as depicted in screenshots shared with TechCrunch, would empower users to showcase their DJ skills by setting tempo ranges and filtering songs by genres, moods, and activities. Moreover, automated features may assist users in sequencing tracks with similar keys, tempos, and styles, simplifying the remixing process for novices.
