Symphony of spirituality & science with Sri Sri on ‘Duologue’

After featuring a stellar line-up of legends in season three of ‘Duologue with Barun Das’, the final episode with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar stands as a landmark moment.

Hosted by Barun Das, MD & CEO ofTV9 Network, the latest episode of ‘Duologue’ brings forth the concept of balance between structure and spontaneity, rationality and emotions, and holistic approach to life, according to a press release from TV9 Network.

The discussion delved into the essence of identity, responsibility, and the tendency to quantify life experiences, shedding light on the path to true fulfillment.

Gurudev addressed a common challenge faced by many as he emphasized that while planning and quantification serve practical purposes, they can also become limiting factors that confine individuals within rigid frameworks. “There is a rhythm to life that cannot always be calculated,” Gurudev explained, “True balance comes when we allow ourselves to flow with life while remaining grounded in awareness.”

As host Das reflected on Gurudev’s words, he felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Both Das and Gurudev masterfully illuminated the art of balance in life.

“I am grateful that we share the same country, and I breathe the same air as him. I am confident that his efforts will guide us through these challenging times, drawing more and more people to his philosophy, meditation, and vision of well-being. I will take these invaluable insights back with me and strive to implement them in my own work and community,” Das said.

Then the ‘Duologue’ shifted stance, winding its way into the intricate duet between tradition and modernity. “One cannot simply reject something because it is old, nor blindly accept something because it is new. Scientific validation should be our guiding principle,” Gurudev asserted.

He cited turmeric’s journey from an age-old ayurvedic remedy to its present-day recognition by modern science, emphasizing the importance of a scientific temper in assessing tradition.

The conversation took a deeper turn, touching upon one of humanity’s most debated subjects, religion. Gurudev’s analogy was simple, yet profound: “Religion is like a banana peel, and spirituality is the fruit within. Holding onto the peel while discarding the fruit leads to division. Spirituality, on the other hand, unites people across religions.”

Amidst this timeless discussion, a pressing contemporary concern surfaced, the mental health crisis amongst the younger generation. With anxiety and insomnia becoming pervasive, meditation emerged as an indispensable solution. Gurudev shared a groundbreaking development, the unanimous adoption of World Meditation Day by 193 countries, recognizing the global need for inner peace. “Meditation can transform lives, improve sleep, reduce anxiety, and foster emotional resilience,” he said.

With the fusion of science, tradition, and spirituality, this ‘Duologue’ served as a powerful reminder that the path to a fulfilling life lies in balance. As humanity navigates the complexities of modernity, embracing both intellect and emotions will be essential in shaping a harmonious world.

‘Duologue with Barun Das’ will air this season’s last episode on News9 on March 22 at 10 pm and the show will continue its commitment to explore the nuances of life, leadership and innovation. Stay tuned for Season 4.
