In celebration of India’s Independence Day, Tata Play Classic Cinema is curating a special movie lineup that pays homage to the nation’s journey to freedom. On August 15 and 16, viewers can relive the spirit of patriotism and the rich legacy of Bollywood cinema through a selection of iconic films that capture the essence of India’s struggle for independence and its cultural heritage.
August 15th Lineup:
• ‘Mother India’ – 5 pm
Directed by Mehboob Khan, ‘Mother India’ is a timeless epic that portrays the indomitable spirit of Radha, played by Nargis, as she battles poverty and personal loss while raising her children. The film’s powerful narrative and Nargis’s acclaimed performance make it a poignant reflection on sacrifice and strength. Mother India remains a significant cinematic work, honored with an Academy Award nomination for Best International Feature Film.
• ‘Naya Daur’ – 8 pm
Starring Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthimala, ‘Naya Daur’ is a classic that highlights themes of social change and unity during India’s post-independence era.
