The highly anticipated return of ‘The Last of Us’ is just around the corner. The post-apocalyptic series, based on the critically acclaimed video game franchise, will officially premiere its second season in April 2025, with the exact premiere date to be announced soon.
The announcement was made by co-creator and executive producer Neil Druckmann at CES 2025, and through social media, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Season 2 will consist of seven episodes and continues the intense survival narrative, picking up the story five years after the events of season 1. Fans will see the return of Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, and Gabriel Luna as Tommy, as they confront new threats in a world that has grown even more dangerous.
This season introduces new characters, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, whose role has been teased in a 30-second trailer released recently. The teaser shows intense moments with Pascal’s Joel, alongside Catherine O’Hara and new characters played by Jeffrey Wright and Isabela Merced, hinting at darker developments to come following the shocking conclusion of season 1.
