The TRAI has stated that the tariffs provided by Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited are not in violation of the tariff orders.
The government conveyed this information in the Rajya Sabha on Friday.
Minister of State for Communications, Devusinh Chauhan, responded to a query raised in the Rajya Sabha, explaining that TRAI is responsible for regulating tariffs in India’s telecommunication sector as per the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Act of 1997, IANS reported.
A telecom service provider filed a complaint alleging that Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd was offering services that contravened TRAI’s tariff orders.
In response to the complaint, TRAI requested a statement from RJIL. After reviewing both the complaint and the response from RJIL, TRAI concluded that the company’s tariffs were not in violation of the tariff orders, as stated by Chauhan in his reply.
