The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will be hosting two events mid-October in Delhi — a global regulators’ roundtable and a symposium on ‘Emerging Trends and Technologies in Broadcasting Sector’ — that promise to bring forth interesting discussions around present regulatory regime and environment in the country vis-à-vis global trends.

Both the TRAI hosted events will be on the sidelines of the eighth edition of India Mobile Congress (IMC), co-hosted by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) from October 15-19.

Concurrent to IMC, India will also be hosting two prestigious international conferences — World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly New Delhi 2024 (WTSA 2024) and Global Standards Symposium (GSS 2024) from October 14-24.

The ‘Emerging Trends and Technologies in Broadcasting Sector’ event, to be held on October 17, will focus on topics related to Digital Radio Technology; D2M; 5G Broadcasting Opportunities and Challenges and Use of Immersive Techs in Broadcasting Landscape.

The session on immersive techs aims to delve into the practical applications and transformative capabilities of the immersive technologies across diverse use cases of the broadcasting sector and everyday scenarios.

Apart from this, TRAI will also organe a one-day international conference of telecom regulators alongside ITU’s World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly on October 16.

The theme for this conference is ‘Emerging Trends in Regulation’ and is proposed to focus on topics such as Regulatory Perspective in Standardization; Framework for Non-Terrestrial Networks; and Regulatory Outlook for OTT Communication Services, amongst others.

The sessions will be addressed by eminent international speakers and technical experts.
