The Indian Bengali-language news channel, TV9 Bangla brings 30-mins long News series program, ‘Dui Bandhu’ to honor the legendary filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh’s 58th Birthday, on August 29, at 10:00 PM.
The veteran music composer, Debojyoti Mishra had been well associated with Rituparno Ghosh through thick and thin during his journey. Drawing excerpts from memories down the lane of their associations, He will be seen sharing his experiences with Rituparno Ghosh in the films like “Raincoat”, “Memories in March”, “Chokher Bali,” and “Chitrangada” in the upcoming episode of the news series.
The accord between the two stalwarts – the cherished music composer Debojyoti Mishra (Debu) and the admired film director, Rituparno Ghosh (Ritu) has had a long-endured friendship according to Debojyoti.
As per the company’s press release, this close-knit friendship has amazed the world with its mellifluous music and storytelling intellect to treat the auditory senses. The duo has adorned the music curated in the film reflects the inseparable journey between them what Debojyoti reveals, “amader je comradeship amader je bondhutto segulo amader gaaner modhye uthe eseche” (we are sharing a comradeship that has been reflected through our music) the indispensable bond between us has been derived from the music portrayed in the films, “Chitrangada,” “Raincoat,” “Choker Bali,” and “Memories in March”.
Mishra expressed his feelings on Ritupurno’s 58th Birthday, “He reminisces how the revered director Rituparno Ghosh has extracted the concept of O’Henry to incorporate in the storyline of the movie “Raincoat”, and how the first cut was showed to him. He was highly appreciated by Debu. Rituparno wanted to create an eternal saga of this film where the voice would have created an infinite identity of itself.
Debojyoti confesses that Ritu wanted to make this film without any western influence and so the latter shared his penned song, “Mathura Nagarapati Kahe Tum Gokul Jao Manohar Vesh Chhod Nandraj”. Passionately, Debu had set his beloved’s song as a caller tune on his phone since long after its release. Till today that song remains as his caller tune amidst years of his expedition towards his immense contribution to the music industry. Towards the end of this upcoming episode, he will be seen to conclude his feelings about the importance of restoration of literary works. He cited how the noble laureate, Rabindranath Tagore besides literature, art, culture, and philosophy has taught and inspire us to restore works and create archives of the well-acclaimed works that have become quite helpful and everlasting.
