TV9 Bangla has rolled out its highly anticipated special programming under the ‘TV9 Bangla Sharadiya’ banner to celebrate the spirit of Durga Puja while raising awareness on contemporary social issues.
This year’s tagline, ‘Shoke Drohe Utsab’ (Mourning, Rebellion, and Celebration), reflects the deep emotions tied to both the festive joy and societal challenges that Bengal is currently experiencing, the news network said in a press release.
The programming highlights the horrific incident involving the rape and murder of a young doctor from RG Kar Hospital, which has deeply impacted the state and beyond. Amritanshu Bhattacharya, Managing Editor & Business Head of TV9 Bangla, shared that while the somber mood exists, it has not dimmed the spirit of Durga Puja. Instead, the celebrations this year are infused with a blend of remembrance, social awareness, and traditional festivity.
Special Highlights:
1. AI-Powered Durga Puja Song: TV9 Bangla debuted Pujor Gaan, an AI-driven song celebrating famous Durga Puja pandals across Bengal. This first-of-its-kind tech initiative showcases the state’s digital advancements while tying in with its festive spirit.
2. Exclusive Women-Organized Pujas: A standout program, ‘Mayer Pujo Meyer Hatey’ (Durga Puja Organized by Women), shines a spotlight on pandals run entirely by women. This exclusive program airs from October 4th to 12th at 3:30 pm, reflecting the strength and creativity of women in Bengal.
3. TV9 Bangla Pujo Somman Awards: The channel is hosting the Sera Barowari and Sera Abason competitions, where 237 Durga Puja pandals will be honored in categories such as Best Theme, Best Idol, Best Ornaments, Best Environment, and Best Puja organized by women. The initiative underscores the channel’s commitment to uplifting both the privileged and underprivileged during this festive season.
Amritanshu Bhattacharya emphasized that this year’s Sharadiya programming aligns with the current mood of the people. He remarked, “For TV9 Bangla, puja means another occasion to stand beside the people of Bengal. By partnering with an NGO, we aim to extend the warmth of the festive spirit to both urban and rural areas, ensuring everyone feels included in the celebrations.”
