With an aim to rejuvenate the Bengali identity, TV9 Bangla channel has unveiled the Bangaliana that will celebrate and highlight the achievements of Bengalis across the globe.
‘What Bengal Thinks Today, India Thinks Tomorrow’ is not just a blurb or a line, but a sentiment that highlights the important role Bengalis have played in India, including its freedom and socio-cultural movements.
The TV9 initiative ‘Bangaliana Manifesto’ launched on January 14, the channel’s first anniversary, by unveiling the Bangaliana logo with theme music, followed by views from various members of the Bangaliana Advisory Committee, and a speech from the TV9 Network CEO Barun Das.
The basic aim of the initiative is to sensitize some 10 crore (100 million) Bengalis in the quest for glory and deliberate on the present situation so as to come up with a roadmap for the future.
A series of back-to-back programmes on Bangaliana kickstarts from February and would continue throughout the year.
Laced with different programmes the project has several firsts too. TV9 Bangla will be the first news channel in Bengal to telecast uninterrupted TV shows in a six-hour long programming called ‘Bangaliana Telethon’, scheduled to be held on February 6.
Chaired by Das, the show will have four different celebrity co-hosts from various walk of life like Arpita Chatterjee, Gautam Ghosh, Ritabhori Chakraborty and Anirban Bhattacharya showcasing some 10 different insightful topics, TV9 Network said in a press release.
Short stories based on the theme of Bangaliana will be aired between February 6 and March 24.
As part of the whole project, TV9 Bangla will also organize on March 25 ‘Bangaliana Conclave: What Bengal Thinks Today’, a day-long structured brainstorming sessions with participation from Bengali achievers in different disciplines.
