TV9 Bharatvarsh news channel managing editor Sant Prasad, who was relieved of his duties on Saturday, is likely to join ABP News, even as TV9 Network announced an editorial restructuring of its TV and digital services.
In another development, anchor Mimansa Malik, who has been associated with Zee News for over two decades, announced her departure late last week in an emotional tweet.
Though industry sources indicated Prasad is most likely to join ABP News, Malik’s future course of action is not clear. Zee News’ chief editor Sudhir Chaudhary too had recently quit and has joined Aaj Tak news channel to host a new show.
“It’s time to gather together the learnings, experience and memories of 24 years at Zee (News) and say goodbye to the organisation,” Malik tweeted in Hindi, expressing gratitude to her mentors, colleagues, well-wishers and the audience.
TV9 Network Creates Synergies in B’cast, Digital Ops: Meanwhile, TV9 Network on Saturday announced that after the departure of Prasad as Managing Editor of the Hindi news channel, a restructuring in editorial operations of the broadcast and digital has been effected.
TV9 Bharatvarsh will now be helmed by Deep Upadhyay, Editor, Convergence & Strategy with Rahul Chaudhary assisting him with day-to-day news operations at the Hindi news channel.
“To keep up with the growth pace, the management has decided to synergize broadcast and digital businesses. Accordingly, the editorial function of TV9 Bharatvarsh Channel comes under the leadership of Deep Upadhyay, Editor, Convergence & Strategy. Sant Prasad Rai, the erstwhile Managing Editor of TV9 Bharatvarsh has been relieved from his day to day newsroom responsibilities with immediate effect,” an official statement from TV9 Network stated.
The recent new launches from the network include Money9 — India’s first multilingual and multimedia personal finance app — and News9 Plus, which is being touted as the country’s first OTT English news magazine.
