After a career spanning diverse leadership roles, Udit Sharma has rejoined the sports industry, taking on the position of Executive Vice President and Business Head – Premium Sports and Agency Relationships at JioStar.

Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Udit expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “India should not and will not be a one-sports country.” He joins forces with industry leaders Ishan Chatterjee, Kiran Mani, and Sanjog Gupta to drive JioStar’s premium sports business.

Udit Sharma’s career is marked by his expertise in sales, strategy, and business development across multiple industries. He left Hotstar as Head of Ad Sales in June 2022 after more than five years, where he was instrumental in scaling advertising revenues. Following this, he joined ShareChat as Chief Revenue Officer for nearly two years, and later served as Chief Business Officer at influencer marketing platform One Impression for about a year.

Udit holds a Master’s degree in Engineering (Microelectronics) from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth (2010). His academic foundation in engineering and business laid the groundwork for a robust professional trajectory.

He began his career as an IC Design Engineer at STMicroelectronics, where he worked for four years while completing his Master’s. Subsequently, he joined Samsung Electronics in Seoul, first as a Global Strategist in the Chairman’s Office and later as Business Development Manager – Samsung Pay, contributing to innovative payment solutions.

Upon returning to India, Udit held leadership roles at some of the country’s most prominent firms. As VP, Global Business Head – Cashless at Zomato, he worked on building cashless payment models. At Freecharge, he served as Assistant Vice President – Head of Category Management & Business Development, before his impactful stint at Hotstar.

Udit’s move to JioStar signifies his return to the sports industry, where his expertise in ad sales, partnerships, and audience engagement will help strengthen the platform’s premium sports segment. His belief in India’s potential to embrace a multi-sport culture aligns with JioStar’s vision of diversifying sports viewership in the country.

With his deep-rooted experience and strategic insights, Udit Sharma is poised to play a pivotal role in redefining JioStar’s sports business and expanding its appeal across India.
