In a significant milestone for digital journalism, ‘UP Tak’, the digital-first channel under the India Today Group‘s umbrella, has achieved a remarkable feat by surpassing 10 million subscribers on YouTube.
This accomplishment underscores UP Tak’s steadfast dedication to providing comprehensive news coverage, particularly focusing on Uttar Pradesh, one of India’s most politically significant states, the India Today group said in a press release.
The channel’s website has also witnessed substantial growth, further cementing UP Tak’s position as a leading source of news and information for audiences across the region. It has consistently delivered high-quality reporting on a wide range of topics, including politics and trending issues within Uttar Pradesh.
Commenting on this achievement, Kalli Purie, Vice-chairperson of the India Today Group, expressed her delight, stating, “Last year, we celebrated the milestone of News Tak achieving 10 million subscribers. We organized an internal competition among Crime Tak, Sports Tak, and UP Tak, with each channel striving to reach this significant milestone first. I am pleased to announce that UP Tak emerged victorious in this spirited race, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Navratri and just before the onset of general elections.”
UP Tak’s achievement of reaching 10 million subscribers makes it the second channel within the Tak network to accomplish this milestone, following in the footsteps of the national news channel, News Tak. Notably, this achievement places UP Tak ahead of any other Hindi regional news channel in terms of YouTube subscribers.
With a clear editorial focus on covering Indian politics comprehensively, UP Tak plays a pivotal role in providing insightful coverage of political developments within Uttar Pradesh and their broader implications on the national stage.
In addition to politics, UP Tak delivers detailed and factual coverage of various topics of public interest, including crime, health, education, careers, jobs, society, religion, and tourism within Uttar Pradesh.
Over the past few years, the Tak group of channels has successfully expanded its presence across various regions, including Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh. Collectively, these digital-first channels have garnered an impressive reach, amassing over 12 billion video views on YouTube in the last financial year alone.
