Viacom18's Manisha Sharma quits

Manisha Sharma, the programming visionary behind Viacom18‘s Hindi mass entertainment business, has announced her departure from the organization.

Having served as the Chief Content Officer for Hindi Mass Entertainment, Viacom18, for the past couple of years, Sharma’s exit marks the end of an era characterized by her substantial contributions to the network.

Sharma’s journey with Viacom18 began in 2012 when she assumed the role of Weekend Programming Head. Over the years, she played an instrumental role in transforming Colors into a powerhouse of Hindi general entertainment.

Under her leadership, a slew of iconic shows was launched, including the likes of ‘24,’ ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil,’ ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’, ‘Bigg Boss,’ ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi,’ ‘Rising Star,’ ‘Shakti…Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki,’ ‘Udaan,’ ‘Chakravartin Samrat Ashoka,’ ’Karmphaldata Shani,’ ‘Mahakaali,’ ‘Naagin,’ and numerous others, BrandEquity.com reported.

Expressing well wishes for Sharma’s future endeavors, a spokesperson for Viacom18 stated, “After more than a decade of helping build Colors as a powerhouse of Hindi general entertainment, Manisha Sharma will be moving on from Viacom18 to pursue her individual goals.”

Before her tenure at Colors, Sharma’s expertise graced Sony Entertainment Television, where she held the role of Non-Fiction Programming Head. Her strategic prowess and creative acumen were evident in the successful launch of notable shows such as ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati,’ ‘Dus Ka Dum,’ ‘Comedy Circus,’ ‘Crime Patrol,’ and fiction favorites like ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi’ and ‘Kkusum.’

Sharma’s journey in the media landscape extends beyond television networks. She also has a history of collaboration with brands like Channel V and UTV. Moreover, her association with Miditech’s drama series ‘Saara Aakash’ showcased her talents as a creative director.

As the curtains close on Sharma’s chapter at Viacom18, the entertainment industry acknowledges her immense influence and contributions to shaping the Hindi mass entertainment landscape. Her departure sparks discussions about the network’s future directions and strategies, leaving a trail of anticipation for what’s next in store for both Sharma and Viacom18.
