The eagerly awaited second installment of ‘Viduthalai,’ directed by acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran, is set to release in theaters across India on December 20, 2024, according to an announcement by the film’s makers.
The news was shared by RS Infotainment and the film’s lead actors, Vijay Sethupathi and Soori, on their social media platforms on Thursday evening, PTI reported.

The first part of ‘Viduthalai,’ released in March 2023, received widespread critical acclaim for its compelling narrative and deep social commentary.
The film is set in 1987 Tamil Nadu and follows the police crackdown on an anti-government armed group called ‘The People’s Army’, which poses a significant threat to the region’s political stability.
The story centers around ‘umaresan (played by Soori), a new police recruit who becomes increasingly conflicted by the actions of his fellow officers during the crackdown. Vijay Sethupathi portrays Perumal Vaathiyaar, the leader of the extremist group Makkal Padai.
