Mahatma Gandhi was honored as the Father of the Nation by history for dedicating his entire life to fighting for India’s freedom while spreading the message of nonviolence.
Mother Nature is a lesser-known fact about the Father of the Nation. His belief in Naturopathy dates back to the late 1800s when he began reading health manuals and applying what he learned to himself and his family.
When his wife Kasturba became pregnant in 1897, he assisted in the delivery of their son Ramdas and later, in the year 1900, Devdas in Durban by reading obstetrics manuals (South Africa).
Gandhiji was adamant that the Nature Cure system alone provided opportunities for self-care and that one did not need to rely on a doctor or medicine. Because he was so engrossed in the subject, those seeking more time with him were told that all they needed to mention was what ailed them. This compelled Gandhi the Healer to interact with them and recommend Naturopathy remedies to them.
WATCH by Brilliant Wellness has broadcast for the first time a two-part documentary ‘Gandhi the Healer’ on their Tata Play Fitness channel 110, taking a page from this unexplored side of the Mahatma’s life.
The documentary is directed by Vipul Mayank and Aroosh Mayank and conceptualized and presented by Dr. MICKEY MEHTA, a leading global holistic health guru and corporate life coach.
Dr. Mickey Mehta and Vipul Mayank researched for three years and spoke with Gandhian scholars, institutions, and museums; it was shot in eight cities and multiple locations.
Following the footsteps of many luminaries who earlier played the part of Gandhi, this time it is the well-known movie & television actor Rajesh Khera who has got into the skin of the role of the Mahatma.
To celebrate the Naturopathy beliefs of Mahatma Gandhi, Tata Play Fitness #110 also aired a 10-part series titled SELF-CURE, that features Dr. Mickey Mehta himself along with eminent exponents from the spheres of spirituality, yoga, bureaucracy and cinema namely: Shyam Benegal (Film Maker), Rajashree Birla (Indian Philanthropist), Sadhguru (Founder, Isha Foundation), Dr. Basudev Chatterjee (Professor Retd., Univ Of Delhi & Ex Chairman, ICHR), Dr. Sudarshan Iyengar (Vice Chancellor, Gujarat Vidyapeeth) Dr. Ullas Jaju (Gandhian, HOD of Medicine M.G.I.M.S Wardha), Dr. R.V. Naturopathic practitioner and Managing Director of WATCH by Brilliant Wellness “We believe Mahatma Gandhi was not only the Father of the Nation but also a very well-researched intuitive healer,” says Adarsh Gupta. Through the innovative efforts of Dr. Mickey Mehta, the world will see and be able to apply these techniques to heal themselves.”
Finally, Dr. Mickey Mehta summarizes his experience with Gandhi’s projects, “We shot in the kitchen where Gandhiji’s food was cooked and where he ate. We went to the kutir, where he treated lepers and other outcasts. We saw the fields he had plowed and sat beneath the trees he had planted. It has been an enlightening journey of evolution for me. The ultimate revelation is Naturopathy.”
