Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is introducing a new feature, ‘manage emoji replacement,’ in its beta version for Windows 2.2350.3.0, targeting select beta testers via the Microsoft Store update.
This update empowers users by allowing them to disable the automatic text-to-emoji replacement feature, granting greater autonomy over their messaging experience, IANS reported from New Delhi.
By navigating to the app settings and accessing the general tab, users can check if the toggle for managing text-to-emoji replacement is available for their accounts.
The introduction of this feature aims to ensure that the intended message tone and expression remain unaltered. Offering the choice to deactivate automated emoji replacements acknowledges that users may prefer the clarity and precision of their selected symbols without automated alterations.
While the feature is initially accessible to a subset of beta testers, it is slated for wider availability in the coming days to users who might not immediately spot this update on the Microsoft Store, as per the report.
Simultaneously, WhatsApp has launched another feature allowing users to pin messages in chats, encompassing text, polls, images, and emojis, albeit limited to one chat at a time.
This functionality, gradually rolling out, enables users to highlight essential messages within group discussions or one-on-one conversations, streamlining the process of accessing crucial information.
WhatsApp highlighted, “This feature saves users time by facilitating easier retrieval of timely messages. All message formats, spanning text, polls, images, emojis, and more, can be pinned securely, preserving end-to-end encryption,” as detailed in a statement.
