WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform owned by Meta, is reportedly making a significant change to its verification system.

According to a recent report by The Economic Times, WhatsApp is planning to replace the familiar green verification badge with a blue checkmark for verified channels and businesses. This move is seen as part of Meta’s broader strategy to unify the appearance of verification badges across its platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.

The change was spotted in the latest update of WhatsApp’s beta version for iPhone users, which is available through the TestFlight beta program. The update, version 24.16.10.72, has already started rolling out to select beta testers. Alongside the report, a screenshot was shared that offers a glimpse of what the new blue verification tick will look like on WhatsApp.

The blue checkmark, which has long been associated with verified accounts on platforms like Facebook and Instagram, will now serve as the standard symbol of authenticity on WhatsApp as well. This shift is intended to help users more easily recognize genuine accounts on the platform, thereby enhancing trust and improving user experience.
